Solar Investment

Solar is an investment in your home. At Evans Energy we believe this wholeheartedly, and this is what we help homeowners to understand. Other companies are promoting options besides ownership and solar as an investment, but rather, are contracting services such as a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) or lease.

Owning solar and making an investment into increasing the value of your home helps everyone. By owning your system, you are more energy independent. Should you sell or pass on your home to a new owner, you and the new homeowner will benefit financially from this decision.

Owning solar is a lesson in economics and is numbers based, it is a simple math problem and solution. The numbers for owning a system will historically be less than a PPA or lease. The current ROI on owning a solar system, based on applying the Investment Tax Credit to the purchase, is 4 to 7 years. On the other hand, if you opt for a PPA or lease, you will now be in a new contract with the lessor for the next 25 years.

Initially, all homeowners are utility company customers and are subject to the rates being billed, which continue to increase year-over-year. That is unless the homeowner decides to power their home with solar. As a utility rate payer, you are bound by a contract to pay them for electricity for the rest of your life.

If you do the math for this scenario, you will be astonished by the amount you are projected to pay for the next 25 years or more. As a utility rate payer, we ask you to do this: take your average monthly electric bill and times that by 12 months. Then, times that number by 10 years. That is what you will pay the utility company in the next 10 years, if you decide to stay on that path.

We specialize in using household usage information to design the solar system for your home. We share our results with you, the options for how it will look on your home and the savings the system will provide. We will provide comparisons for your situation that include options to get a PPA or lease, and the costs associated with a purchase or loan. We explain the benefits of owning your system and provide directions to obtain the best financing available, avoiding added and hidden fees that are associated with certain businesses and the finance companies they recommend.
